Born June 10, Svetlana Zakharova, born on June 10,in Lutsk, Ukraine, is considered one of the most talked-about ballerinas to emerge on the St. Petersburg stage in recent years. At the age of six, Zakharova's mother enrolled her in a folk dance group in her hometown. At ten years old, she was accepted into the Kiev Choreographic School, but she had to leave after only four months due to her family's relocation to East Germany. After returning to Ukraine six months later, Zakharova retook the entrance exams and was accepted into the second year of the Kiev Choreographic School, where she primarily trained with Valeria Sulegina.

Staying strong in the pursuit of her goals, the ballet dancer continues to expand her repertoire with the modern pieces and programs. Without fear, she experiments and makes use of the modern technical capabilities.
